According to a note in a coat of arms in the Staatsarchiv Kt. Bern 2 and the Swiss Idiotikon 5, Riggli partly has the same meaning and is an old spelling of Rickli.

This spelling differs from the original (Rickli), in the area of Wangen on the Aare / BE and Wangenried / BE, by omitting the C, The C was first by Rikli Martin * approx. 1595 in Wangenried (born Rickli), son of Rickli Hans Heinrich * 1570 in Thunstetten, omitted. Why he did this is not handed over.
